The Hansford County 4-H livestock judging team competed October 24 at the Aggiefest competition in College Station. 62 senior division 4-H and FFA teams were in the competition.
The Hansford County team ended up winning the placing portion of the contest but fell behind in the questions portion- a segment that 4-H teams don’t typically compete in. When the final tally was reported, Hansford placed 1st in sheep, 3rd in cattle, and 4th overall.
Individually, there were 256 contestants. Payton Harrell led the way for Hansford by placing 5th in sheep and 14th overall. Kaitlyn Stedje ranked 20th in cattle and 23rd overall. Jonathon Crowl placed 9th in cattle, 20th in sheep, and 26th overall. Also making the trip were Jaci Burgin, Kaycee Anderson, Tyler Stedje, Carter Burgin, and Reed Anderson.
The team is preparing for the National Western contest to be held in Denver January 8.
